Welcome to our class webpage. This is a space where I can share valuable resources and class information with you. Be sure to check the class website weekly for additional resources and tools.
9ISU Group Presentations will be on Thurs Feb. 21st 2019
Please remember that you MUST submit ONE printed out copy of your Presentation (all slides) and write your names on the parts that you created. This will be photocopied and placed into your student folders. Please have this ready to hand in at the beginning of your presentation.
*If you created a PREZI you will need to take a screen shot of each slide/page and print a copy as Prezi does not have a print function in the FREE Mode. If you have a full licence for Prezi the instructions to print can be found here prezi.com/support/article/presenting/printing-a-prezi/
Click on the book images to read reviews and a description of the book.
*Students wishing to sell their ISU books can add their contact information on the list outside Ms Groom's classroom (room 9). Student taking ENG3U next term will be advised to contact people on the list when purchasing their books. You can be environmentally friendly and save some extra money (for hot pot)!
Presentation Planning
You can even use this template, if you like, to start you powerpoint. However, be sure to customize it so we are not looking at the same slide for all 3 presentations.
COLLABORATION ISU presentations are just a few shork weeks away. In order to save time collaborating (working together) think about using a Google Group to work together on the SAME file in REAL-TIME. Have all your group members sign up for Google Groups before our Powerpoint Planning day and you will have more time to work on your project in class, leaving you with more time to play your favourite videogame (Hearthstone/Clash Royal/League of Legends), go shopping (winter coats!), or catch up on some much needed sleep!
FOCUS Remeber, you classmates have not read the same book as your group. Make your powerpoint interesting for them, include: a synopsis; pictures; relevant quotes to illustrate your points; questions to ask your peers (and answers if they do not know); BRIEF video clips (roughly 30 seconds);etc. Your presentations are 20-25 minutes (which averages out to 5 minutes a person), focus on the following areas:
Summarize the novel ( you could also include a plot diagram)
Introduce the context and cultural aspects of the Novel. When was it written? Introduce the Author. Describe what you think the Author is trying to say with this Novel (THEMES)
Introduce the characters (this is more interesting if you include pictures of the characters, descriptions and quotes that they say)
Introduce the Themes/Symbols (you can use graphic organizers, drawings, pictures, quotes and questions to make this more fun for your audience)
